A day at the beach & concluding March Madness

I woke up this morning and said "Mommy can we go to the beach today?" I really didn't know we had one. I thought we had to drive all the way to Uncle Brent's in FL. to see one. Boy was I surprised!

So now I have to ask myself,
O-why-o-why-o-would you ever leave OHIO?

We have had some pretty nice hot weather so early in the year, and we have a really great place to spend these hot early spring days. The Beach!! What? we have a beach in OHIO? Yep! only 15 minutes away from home at Hinkley Park. Where my Mom says she spent all of her summer days as a child.

Mom took me to the boat house and picnic area where we could enjoy watching the early canoe goers and fisherman cast out into the lake. The leaves are not even blooming in these parts for at least another week, but it was over 80 degrees on this first day of Spring.

We stopped to eat our lunch. We were going to need it for our hike around the lake. The path is full of mud and up and down steep hills. I stayed in the stroller while Mom pushed me along. She kept stopping to catch her breath. She says this will be a good work out for her.
We heard frogs singing, only 2 ducks were swimming, and lot of buzzards! We also stopped to see the fish in the shallow streams near the path.
Okay, so Mom had a enough of the muddy path. We only made it about 1/8 (if that) of the way around the lake when we turned around.

That was fine by me because next we headed for the beach. There is a great big water fall and river that runs from the lake. Some of Mom and Dad's wedding party may remember this area when they got pictures taken for their wedding.

I thought this was the coolest thing. I built a sand turtle with Mommy and we berried our feet in the sand.  I got my feet wet in the cold water. I wasn't too happy about that. I just wanted to play in the sand.

Sand Angels!!

So after applying 50 proof sun lotion 2x, in only 2 hours at the park, Mom and I got a little burnt. Mommy couldn't believe we got so much. She thought we better get 60 proof next time.

And that folks, concludes my March madness!

Daddy's Birthday!

Daddy's Birthday started off over the weekend with St. Patrick's day. Mommy and Daddy went out on a date and left me at Grandma's. I much preferred this! I got to stay up very late and play all night! I tried corn beef and cabbage and loved it!

Here's a picture of Daddy after his long night out with Mommy. I heard he drank too much of the Irish elixir and danced too many jigs at the pub.

Monday the 19th was officially Daddy's Bday. So we picked out a pre-backed cake and sang very loudly "Happy Birthday to you!" Daddy told me I can blow out the candles, but I figured he had this one under control. I'll just light them.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Cousin buddies

Day 1: Aunt Julie was gone all day getting fitted for her new hair and she got her hair cut very cute and short!
Mom and i stayed with Noah all day. We danced and played.
Day 2 :in Cincinnati. We decided to get out and enjoy the sunshine before treatment day. So we went out shopping, stopped for lunch at the Rusty Bucket, and played outside.

I thought it was really funny when Noah started picking his nose. So I copied. Hey it's getting us attention.
Mommy told us to cut it out. that's gross and we'll get Aunt Julie sick. Noah was really mad that Mom said "No more!" I thought it was funny.

Day 3: Treatment day? Not so much. Blood count is too low and Aunt Julie is at dangerous levels. So she can't be in public for 4 days. Crazy thing is, she was too low this entire time and we didn't know it. We shouldn't have gone out on the town the last few days, but no one told her or checked her counts before she left from the last treatment. Lesson learned. So hopefully she didn't get anything.
Meanwhile the shot will make her feel sick and fatigue now.
Her treatment (chemo) will be postponed until the following week.

Day 4: Aunt Julie was feeling okay so we went outside to play. We discussed that step 1 to deal with a life challenge is to use laughter? Well,

Step 2: Have some fun!
We all figured why sit around and mope. Let's enjoy the sunshine (with protection) and have fun!
So we headed for the back yard to play on the slide. It was amazingly hot out and we only packed winter clothes (it was winter like weather in the north where I'm from until this week). Eventually I had to borrow some of Noah's summer clothes. Yea, so I'm 9 months older and I fit in Noah's clothes that just means he's too big! Any way, we played on the slide and played in the dirt.

 Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
After this, Aunt Julie was sent off to emergency because her temps were too high. We were a little nervous! Mom stayed behind with Noah and I. Aunt Julie and Uncle Shawn were at the hospital  for 6 hours getting her fluids & antibiotics. They weren't kidding when they said Aunt Julie can get sick very very easily. I learned that having a low blood count makes your immune system very weak!  I fell asleep on the couch after Noah was put to bed that night. And Mommy stayed up really late waiting for their return from the hospital.
She's okay now! She just needs lots of rest and fluids.

Day 5: The next day I was caught again!! (resorting to step 1) being a goof and playing with Aunt Julie's sun hat.  I look good! What?
Come on Noah, You know you want to wear it too!

Last day in Cinnci for a few weeks, Aunt Julie is feeling better after a long nap. Here she is hanging out on the porch getting ready to blog.  She's also sporting her new hair cut.  Very cute short fringe. She said now it will be much harder to lose it because she loves the new do!

My daddy told her not to worry about losing your hair because bald is the new sexy. heeheehehee LOL.. Daddy!!! You're silly!

Visiting Aunt Julie part 1

We have started a new journey with my Aunt Julie.
Our family is learning a lot about how precious life can be.
The next series of blogs and through out the summer, I will share pictures and thoughts of our journey with Aunt Julie and her new challenge.

How to handle life's little challenges:
Step 1. Laughter
Just be a goof ball like me!
That's a good way to describe my personality and what better time to be one is when I'm spending time with my Aunt Julie. We spent another week in Cinnci to help Aunt Julie with Noah during her treatment week. I will admit that I'm a bit of goof and Noah came following after.
I found my Aunt Julie's new head wraps. I paraded around in them when Mom& Aunt Julie caught me red handed. They couldn't help but laugh and get out the camera. So here I am posing and making my silly picture face.
We look pretty cute!

Doughnuts

Tell me what Rosario doesn't like a good doughnut when they eat one?
Yes, I love doughnuts just like my Daddy! However, I will admit I get the love for maple frosting
from my Mother.
My Mom only likes the fresh baked doughnuts from our local grocery store. Their fluffy, sweet and delicious!

Yummy! I have frosting all over my face.

I'll lick it off later. First I must take another bite!

Mmmmmm.....
Now Daddy will contest. He loves Dunkin Donuts. I like them too.
I can't argue, just get me another one please?

Cookie play-doh

Cookie play-doh time

Grandma Rosario sent us cookie cutters. My daddy and uncles used to use
these same cutters to play in play-doh a long time ago, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I was very particular how I rolled out my doh and pressed down on each shape.
I made a pumpkin, turkey, Christmas tree, ginger bread man and a pig.

This was so much fun! I recommend this to all my friends. Thank you Grandma Rosario!

March Madness has begun!

It's March Madness!!

I'm making a shamrock and adding glitter.

 What a beautiful shamrock!

 I'm proud of my work!

After sham-rocking it out, I decided to paint with some water colors.

I'm the artist in this house!
